Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Peer review

The journal uses double-anonymous peer review: author identities are concealed from reviewers, and reviewer identities are concealed from authors. Each research manuscript that proceeds beyond editorial screening must be reviewed by at least two independent external reviewers with relevant expertise. Editorial decisions are based on scholarly merit. Review duration varies with reviewer availability and the revisions required; no fixed review deadline is guaranteed.

Author charges

The article processing charge (APC) is $400 per accepted article. The APC is the only mandatory author charge. There are no submission fees, separate page or color charges, or mandatory overlength charges. APC reductions or waivers may be available for outstanding manuscripts and must be confirmed by the editorial office.

Optional language editing

Language editing is optional and is charged separately from the APC at USD 40 per 1,000 English words (USD 0.04 per word). For example, 5,000 English words cost USD 200 at this base rate. Before work begins, the scope of editing, billable word count, total fee and delivery arrangements must be confirmed with the editorial office. Use of language editing does not guarantee acceptance and does not replace editorial assessment or peer review.
