Abstract

Against the background of population ageing, community sports and physical activity spaces have become important carriers for older adults’ health maintenance, daily exercise, and social interaction. Based on active ageing theory, this study defines community health and wellness space as community sports and physical activity space centered on physical activity, rehabilitation exercise, health promotion, leisure communication, and social participation. Through theoretical analysis and system construction, this study identifies current deficiencies in accessibility, exercise support, safety protection, social interaction, and operation management, and proposes an age-friendly framework consisting of a spatial accessibility system, exercise support system, safety protection system, leisure interaction system, and collaborative governance system. The study suggests that community sports and physical activity spaces should shift from single facilities to continuous spatial networks, from ordinary fitness sites to age-friendly exercise-support spaces, and from one-time construction to continuous multi-actor operation, so as to better support older adults’ health, participation, and safety.
