Abstract

In the digital era, Artificial Intelligence(AI) technology has progressively integrated into the entire news production chain. The value and challenges coexist in the technology-enabled news production process. This paper examines the application, challenges, and principles upheld in AI-automated news production from a journalism professionalism perspective. It employs textual narrative analysis on AI-generated news products and integrates insights from media practitioners’ real-world applications within the field. The core arguments include: First, news media have achieved intelligent transformation in multimodal content generation. However, this paper contends that AI application also brings challenges such as lack of emotional expression, authenticity concerns, and algorithmic bias. Therefore, it further proposes that media must uphold journalistic professionalism and adhere to the principle of “human-led, technology-assisted.” Finally, from a future outlook perspective, this paper suggests that a deeply integrated model of human-machine collaboration represents the prevailing trend.
